The specs are expected to be the same and the live pictures below confirm it - the device is running on a quad-core 1.9GHz processor with Adreno 320 GPU, which most definitely means a Snapdragon 600 chipset. The screen supposedly has the same size and resolution as the original Galaxy S4 - a 5.0-inch 1080p unit, though it's unclear if it's a Super AMOLED one or not. Strangely enough, the reported pixel density of the phone is 480ppi, so the display might actually be smaller.

The device is said to have a 8MP rear camera, down from the 13MP camera in the original S4. It has a metallic shell with bolts on the back and three hardware buttons below the screen.

Notably, Samsung is also preparing to release another version of the S4 dubbed the Galaxy S4 Zoom. This version is said to feature a 16MP camera with optical zoom.

With multiple versions of its flagship device, Samsung continues to compete against the iPhone by trying to capture as much market share as possible. It currently ships 41.1% of all Android phones which accounted for 75% of the smartphone market in 1Q13. iOS accounted for 17.3% of the smartphone market in 1Q13. Apple is not expected to unveil a new device until this fall.

This could improve network performance for some users. Here's how it works:

This hack enables Release 9 DC-HSPA+ on the iPhone 5 and iPad 3, 4, and mini as well as enhancing LTE data and signal. Though AT&T is limited to HSPA+ 21, the device itself becomes more open to an increased amount of bandwidth thus allowing for better throughput of data and data connection. This is very convinient for users in areas that don't yet have LTE coverage. This hack also includes a fix to any and all iPhone 5 users who have experienced degraded/weakened signal over the past couple to few months on the PCS 1900MHz and/or CLR 850MHz bands for HSPA+ as well as the APT 700MHz and/or AWS 1700MHz band for LTE.

The issue was due in part to the newer revised iPhone 5's that came with the AWS band enabled for HSPA+, if you were to ever choose to leave AT&T for T-Mobile. It set the band preference for HSPA+ to CLR and LTE to APT which can cause conflictions and problems when you're in an area with towers on different bands with stronger signal. The setting has been set back to the default “auto” setting and should help the 4G HSPA+/LTE signal perform a bit better, whether your iPhone 5 is the older edition or the revised edition. This hack will also help you connect to the strongest tower rather than the preferred type of tower, whether on HSPA+ or LTE.

Marcos Vincente Arenas, a 15 year old Las Vegas teen, was run over and killed by a SUV while trying to prevent thieves from stealing his iPad, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

Investigators determined Arenas was walking on the south side of Charleston Boulevard carrying the iPad when a white vehicle, believed to be a Ford Explorer or Expedition manufactured between 2008 and 2010, stopped and a man exited the passenger side of the vehicle.

The man attempted to steal the iPad and started to drag the teen, who was trying to hold on to the device, police said. Arenas was dragged to the vehicle, and the suspect got back into the SUV with the teen still grasping at the tablet or somehow being held by the suspect, according to a Metro news release.

As the driver fled the scene, Arenas reportedly fell and was struck by the vehicle. He died at University Medical Center from his injuries.

The suspect who grabbed the iPad was described as a white male in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing 180-200 pounds. He has short slicked back blonde hair which was shaved on the sides and a neatly trimmed beard. At the time he was wearing blue jeans and a white tank top.

The driver of the vehicle was a black male in his mid 20s, medium build, with a fade haircut. He may have tattoos on both arms and was last seen wearing a black shirt and possibly a long chain with a pendant.

Below are photos of what Metro Police describe as a "person of interest and a vehicle of interest" in the case.

“There has got to be people who saw stuff, and we want those people to come forward,” Metro spokesman Bill Cassell said.

According to the study 85% of worldwide computer users and 88% of U.S. users have little to no loyalty to a particular ecosystem. However, among those 12-15% that do show loyalty, Apple dominates.

Users are divided into three categories of devotion:
● The Free Radicals - little to no loyalty (single device or multiple devices all from a different ecosystem)
● The Loyalists- moderate loyalty (multiple devices with a majority of devices from a single ecosystem)
● The Devotees - strongly loyal (multiple devices all from a single ecosystem)

As you can see below. Apple users represent 58% of the world's loyalists and 56% of its devotees. In the U.S., Apple users account for 59% of loyalists and 71% of devotees. But the Windows 8.1 name underscores that Microsoft considers the revised software a relatively minor update and not a do-over, which would point to fundamental problems with the original product.

Tami Reller, CMO and CFO of Microsoft Windows, made the announcement at a J.P. Morgan investor conference Tuesday morning.

“It is an update, which is why it’s called Windows 8.1,” Reller said. She also noted that the operating system “just keeps getting better and better every day.”

A test version of Windows 8.1 will be released to the public in late June, likely at Microsoft's Build Conference.

Not only will it be a capacitive touch button, but it’ll also incorporate a fingerprint sensor, the sources claim.

Sapphire crystal is highly transparent and extraordinarily scratch-resistant making it a good choice to cover the fingerprint scanner. Apple currently uses sapphire crystal to cover the lens of the iPhone's camera to prevent any scratches from ruining your photos.

A fingerprint scanner has been predicted for the iPhone 5S repeatedly based on Apple's acquisition of AuthenTec.

TechNews says that the device will arrive in August or September, alongside a plastic low-cost iPhone.

Following the release of the Galaxy S4, Apple says it has analyzed the device and "concluded that it is an infringing device and accordingly intends to move for leave to add the Galaxy S4 as an infringing product."

In order to add the Galaxy S4 to a list of infringing products it originally filed in August 2012, Apple will "eliminate (without prejudice)" one of Samsung's accused smartphones and tablets — which already include the Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note & Note II, and the Galaxy Nexus (full list in source link below). It has also been ordered to comply with Judge Lucy Koh's request to limit the number of patent claims and infringing devices ahead of next year's trial. Apple had originally gone after the Galaxy S III back in June, when it tried to have US sales of the device stopped before it was even launched.

Samsung has not requested any changes as of yet to the list of Apple products it believes are infringing.

The new feature will first rollout to users in New York and Philadelphia who will be able to live stream all the programming from ABC's local stations. Later this summer, live streaming will be available to another six cities where ABC owns stations. The network has also signed a deal with Hearst Television to bring the feature to an additional 13 markets including Boston and Pittsburgh in the coming months. Talks with companies that own their more than 200 affiliates is also ongoing.

Under the new platform, users can download and upload data at speeds of up to tens of gigabits per second (Gbps), compared to 75 megabits per second (Mbps) posted by the fourth-generation long-term evolution (LTE) service.

Samsung Electronics said it has successfully tested the platform using the 28 Gigahertz (GHz) waveband to transmit data at a speed of 1 Gbps, which earlier had been considered as a conundrum by global industry players.

According to the report, the company used 64 antenna elements to overcome the issue and let the device exchange real-time signals under the platform.

With this new combined storage space, you won’t have to worry about how much you’re storing and where. For example, maybe you’re a heavy Gmail user but light on photos, or perhaps you were bumping up against your Drive storage limit but were only using 2 GB in Gmail. Now it doesn’t matter, because you can use your storage the way you want.

Notably, this means you are no longer limited to a 25 GB storage upgrade in Gmail.

The changes will roll out over the next couple of weeks.

We’ve heard it now and again, but the Android smartwatch is now in physical form. The watch has been shown in at least three different Google offices: Berlin, Manchester, and Mountain View. We were told the original watch rumors popped up when displayed in a rough form at the Berlin and Manchester offices. Having recently been shown off at the Mountain View campus, the watch is set for release sometime soon.

The site's source says, “Functionality will be very much like Glass” relying on a card type interface with swipes to the left telling you what is coming up.

Notably, the manufacturer of the device is said to be Motorola who was acquired by Google in 2011.

It's unclear when the smart watch might be released; however, Google is holding its Google I/O conference starting on May 15th.

President Francois Hollande will decide by the end of July if technology giants should be charged taxes to finance cultural projects.

The Socialist government asked former Canal Plus CEO Pierre Lescure to find new ways of funding culture during an economic downturn, in line with France's "cultural exception" argument that such projects must be shielded from market forces.

Lescure's report said taxes on sales of smart-phones and tablets, namely Apple's iPhone and iPad and Google Android products, could help fund culture because consumers were spending more money on hardware than on content.

The proposal could worsen tensions between the country and tech companies following an incident where Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg blocked Yahoo's attempt to buy a majority of French video site Dailymotion.

The tax would be similar to one already paid by television users, TV and radio broadcaster, and ISPs to fund culture projects such as art, cinema, and music.

"Companies that make these tablets must, in a minor way, be made to contribute part of the revenue from their sales to help creators," Culture Minister Aurelie Filipetti told journalists.

Codenamed 'Catwalk' the smartphone the device was said to feature a 4.5" display with an OCTA display, S4 1.5GHz dual-core CPU, 16GB of storage (down from 32GB), 2000mAh battery and an 8.7MP OIS camera with LED flash. As a result of the new body, the device is 50 grams lighter (just 132g) than the current Lumia 920 and is supposedly about 2.3mm less in thickness (8.4 versus 10.7mm on the 920).

The company is also said to be working on a 41-megapixel "EOS" phone that will also feature a metal casing. Nokia is expected to unveil its new devices at a press event on May 14th.

Apple Vice President Tara Bunch announced that the changes would soon roll out across the U.S. then later across the world. The changes are being referred to under the "One Apple" brand; however, its unclear if the term is for internal use only.

"The biggest announcement, was the way repairs for iPhones will be handled soon," the person, who asked not to be identified due to their active status as an Apple employee, told AppleInsider. "The way it is now, if almost anything is wrong with an iPhone, iPod, or iPad, the entire device is exchanged for a like-new re manufactured (sic) device, whether brought into an apple store or sent in for mail in repair. Now we are starting to actually repair the products and return the same device to the customer."

Apple Stores are currently equipped to replace speakers, receivers, home buttons, vibrator motors and batteries. However, come June they will reportedly be able to replace displays and in July they will repair issues with cameras, sleep/wake buttons, and logic boards. Employees will gain access to advanced diagnostic tools that can remotely assess hardware problems and send the data directly to technicians for quicker turnaround times. Bunch reportedly said Apple will save nearly $1 billion per year by performing repairs in-store.

Another huge change is that the paid AppleCare service will become a subscription based purchase attached to a person rather than a device. A subscriber will get in-store training and each of their devices will be covered under the warranty. The new service could also include "exclusive" 24/7 support; although, that has not been confirmed yet. The full set of features and pricing hasn't been finalized.

Apple is also said to be updating the free warranty coverage you get with a purchase to a new system that offers phone support for a least a year, maybe even two years in the future. Currently, the company only offers 90 days of free telephone support.

Additionally, Apple is reportedly looking to increase the size of its home advisor team currently made up of over 4,200 technical advisors that work from home instead of an office. This saves overhead costs and makes it easier for Apple to find qualified employees.

Finally, Apple is set to improve its online support by revamping its support webpages, adding more videos and tutorials, and offering assistance over iMessage.

The carrier update was modified by @joe012594 and @cooldayr2 "increasing the amount of bandwidth allowing for better throughput of data and data connection." While T-Mobile's official carrier update improved LTE access, it apparently had a negative effect on speeds achieved when using the company's refarmed PCS 1900MHz network.

Since many unlocked iPhone 5 users report weakened signal on the refarmed 4G HSPA+ and many iPhone users (unlocked or official T-Mobile versions) report slower data speeds, I have done many hours for many days doing research on what could be done to fix the issue. After partnering with @cooldayr2, we both have come up with the best possible solution to this issue. Below is a fix we have provided for all iPhone 5 users on the T-Mobile network. This will not take away any features added by the official carrier update nor does it require a jailbreak, however, we have made user friendly for both jailbroken and non-jailbroken users. Non-jailbroken users:
1. Plug your iPhone 5 into iTunes and backup the device so you won’t lose anything.
2. In the device itself, tap the “Settings” app and navigate to “General > Reset > Erase all content and Settings”
3. Once you have done that, the iPhone will auto reboot.

5. Once downloaded, your iPhone will boot up into iTunes. Before you do ANYTHING, make sure to decline any and all prompts to update carrier settings. Just choose to “Restore from backup” and let it run.
6. Once your iPhone has booted up once again, it will place all of your personal content back into the Phone. While it’s doing this we’re going to go ahead and enable iTunes to except custom carrier bundles, if it’s not already.
7. Windows users, you will need to open command prompt and type the following and enter it in:
64 bit:cd “C:Program Files (x86)iTunes” then type: iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier testing 1
32 bit:cd “C:Program FilesiTunes” then type: iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier testing 1
Mac users you will need to open terminal and type the following and enter it in:
Mac:defaults write com.apple.itunes carrier-testing -bool true
8. After this has successfully been entered in, click on the tab for your iPhone 5 and click “Update” or “Check For Update” while holding down the Alt / Optionkey for Mac users and the Shift key for Windows users. Navigate to where you downloaded the hacked carrier update file named “TMobile_US_iPhone.ipcc,” and select it then click Open.
9. The carrier update should now successfully be installed. Restart your iPhone 5 for any changes to take effect.
10. If you encounter any problems or wish to revert back just download the file below and repeat the above steps only with the default file instead.

The approval will allow for government-issued devices running iOS 6 and let Apple compete with BlackBerry and Samsung for military market share. However, widespread adoption of Apple devices can only happen after a mobile device management system is built by the Pentagon to secure the devices.

Bloomberg also reports that the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology granted Apple’s iOS 6 a certification known as the Federal Information Processing Standard for protecting sensitive data on May 3. Prior to this approval, agencies that purchased Apple devices had to use a third party application in order to comply with security requirements.

Michael Cooper, a manager in the agency's computer-security division, said departments can now "go out and buy these products off the shelf and know that they’re getting security capabilities built in that meet government standards."

"We have a tombstone here for passwords," Barrett told the audience, as he displayed a slide with a tombstone for passwords and the years 1961 to 2013 engraved on it. "Passwords, when used ubiquitously everywhere at Internetscale are starting to fail us," he added.

Barrett notes that passwords chosen tend to be poor and they are reused for multiple services.

"Users will pick poor passwords and then they'll reuse them everywhere," Barrett said. "That has the effect of reducing the security of their most secure account to the security of the least secure place they visit on the internet."

Barrett's solution is the FIDO Alliance. An open approach to secure authentication, FIDO lets you bring your own security device. FIDO devices are dynamically discovered by websites and users are asked if they want to connect FIDO devices to their accounts. Once enrolled, users can just swipe their finger, insert their USB or enter a PIN to access those websites.

Notably, Barrett expects the iPhone to help with this switch to device based authentication.

"It's widely rumored that a large technology provider in Cupertino, Calif., will come out with a phone later this year that has a fingerprint reader on it," he said. "There is going to be a fingerprint enabled phone on the market later this year. Not just one, multiple."

"These kinds of trends take a while," he said."We're in this world-changing moment, but it's going to take several years before you see real, mass turning of the ship. But the ship is turning."
