How to Install, activation and update setool.

Setool, maybe one of sony ericsson mobile repair tool that introduce after cruiser and ufs.
As we know, many repair tool box recently became “dead project”, but setool almost never disapointed his users.
User never “push” to buy new box or dongle to upgrade software, except only buy log activation to upgrade software.
As a newbie like me, especialy who bouhgt setool before or after 2011, sometimes face litle problem on how to install, activation and update setool.
To install any software, we usualy need installer files eg.: setup.exe, install.exe or *.msi.
Setool software, from the first time never use installer file, but it compressed into a “rar” file. User only ecstract that file into special folder on pc/ laptop, and software ready to use, by double klick “Setool2g.exe” file.
To help new user to prepare setool software, I have sufficient time to make a note every step while install process at first time.
I hope it useful.

INSTALL SETOOL.
There are two thing that we notice, is to prepare setool software on your pc/ laptop, and to install setool driver box.
Steps:
1. make a folder on pc/ laptop, and rename it any name.
2. download and copy-paste setool *.rar file into that folder.
3. extract *.rar file into that folder (I suggest named it ccording its version – eg: setool v1.107).
4. if you install old version/ previous version once – eg: setool v1.106, copy-paste every file/folder (especially backup dan logs) from previous version into recent version (v1.107).
5. setool box driver:
- install: DPInst.exe (or ggsetup-x.x.x.x.exe ) from sub folder: USBFlash_driver.
- install: Axalto-egate-drivers (use accordings pc os – win95, winxp, winvista, win7) from : SmartCard_Drivers\ eGate_Driver.
6. restart pc.
7. connect setool box to pc.
If appear pop-up “found new hardware”, manually direct to: e-Gate_Drivers
If still appear same pop-up than direct it to: 1.09.06 (folder: 4in1_CableDriver).
8. make sure installed usb-serial driver at device manager, if any driver not installed properly yet at “universal serial bus controller” on “usb<->serial”).
If it happen, right klick, update driver and direct to sub folder: 4in1_CableDriver > 1.00.2176 (or 1.09.06 and 2.02.06).
9. check “device manager” > every driver must install properly, at:
- e-gate smart card
- usb serial port (COMxx)
- e-gate virtual reader enumerators (winxp)
- usb serial converter (winxp)
10. Setool software ready to use by double klick “Setool2g.exe” file.
Or right klick “Setool2g.exe” and “send to” desktop (creat shortcut), so setool can easily use at desktop.
11. Finish.

Note:
- Avoid install setool herewith other flasher box that use same driver, eg: ustpro ect., at same pc or same partition. will make it crash and hang.
- usb flash driver setup bein sub folder: drivers\usbflash_driver\ggsetup-x.x.x.x.exe
if we install, will remove older version. Try install again.
Driver will be installed at x:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson or Sony Mobile\Gordons Gate
- If we run SETOOL, and there are warning, eg: PLEASE UPGRADE USBFLASH DRIVER 00.00.00.00
Solution: connect normal mobile, eg: K510 and klick “identify”, driver will be installed automatically.
- if there are problem at “usb<->serial” on “universal serial bus controller”, directly go to folder: 4in1_CableDriver > 2.02.06
- again check “device manager” > if there are no problem
- if we can login to support server, besides download software & firmware, you have to download phone driver too.
- interface connection, we can use:
portcom: fighter cable (portcom) and via ufs for mobile type k300 ect.
Fighter cable – portcom is recommended to run reset procedure
Usb: dcu-60. for type k750 ect.

AKTIVASI SETOOL
To use setool software setool newer than v1.01, you must activated setool box, if not, setool only can use until v1.01 version, and can not acces setool site support.
Step activation:
- buy 30 activation credit at reseller in your country.
- reseller will send you user name and password for activation.
- Internet ONLINE
- Connect setool box to pc
- ecstract and run setool v1.01
- go to tab “setting”
- check “signed mode..”
- fill user name and password
- klick “information”

if appear. log “INFORMATION:

If still appear “No server found”, try change SERVER IP with: srv01.dontexist.com
And klick again “Information”
If appear. Log:

server kredit left/used: 30/0, means you have 30 kredit left, used 0. so you have 30 credit to do avtivation, ativation need 20 credit.
- download and extract setool v1.02 or v1.03 into folder v1.01
- copy “Activator.exe” into folder v1.01
- internet online
- run activator > it will appear with serial and user (please check it with yours)
- klick activate
- klick “quit”
- run setool with double klick “Setool2g.exe” > now you already have setool v1.03
- go to tab “setting”, check “signed mode..” > klick “information

- you can run setool newer than v1.01 now

Note:
Please take care of your User name and password, because it useful to check your credit left at setool support server.

UPDATE SMART CARD
Using setool software v1.107 and newer, setool smart card setool have to update again.
No need credit to update smart card.
Steps update smart card:
- Extract setool software v1.107
- INTERNET ONLINE
- extract & run “updater.exe”
update smartcard.png
- highlight or check “Axalcto e-gate” or Gemalto e-gate” smart card
- klick “update card”

if appear. Log:
setool2 SmartCard updater [0.93]

server read: "srv01.dontexist.com"
username read: "updater"

Important:
- If you buy setool box after 2011, I suggest to buy that aktivated and updated. one.
