LG KG300 resets to headset profile

Hi,

I was gifted an LG KG300 cell phone but the phone seems to have a problem. The headset icon displays forever on the screen. Each time the phone is switched on, profile defaults to headset mode.

I tried using 2945#*# and doing FORMAT. After reboot, phone switches to normal mode but if i switch it off and on, then m back to where i began. I was wondering if i should pry it open and check if headset jack is stuck or something, but before i do that, would appreciate advice.

Also, if i were to know what exactly do i need in order to flash/upgrade this phone (software, hardware, etc.)
