newbie with locked samsung saga (i770)

I was wondering if you might be able to help unlock my Samsung Saga (i770). It is locked to the verizon network and I have been able to use the sequence:

*7465625*638*
to get the phone to an unlock screen. It requests a 6 digit number. I imagine it is linked to the IMEI number somehow, the IMEI is:

353603020193961

You have to buy codes to unlock your Samsung Saga (i770).

No free solution at the moment.

I looked into unlocked by logs and I am not sure I believe they can successfully unlock the samsung i770. As they ask for more than 20 $ (us) for the service they offer up a code to check your phone's lock status that does not work with this phone. Why is it unhackable? Why would a factory restore not work? Is there some sort of hardware built in to keep the sim lock in place?

The code provided is the Unlock and Unfreeze code.
And yes the service charge is 20 usd as mentioned earlier.
